ACH Investment Group, Inc.

Janet Kreielsheimer As the rise and fall of the Dow Jones goes, so go the days at ACH Investment. Janet Fox Kreielsheimer, founder and president of the company, explains there is no such thing as a typical day at the burgeoning financial planning firm.

"Lately the stock market has been very interesting," she says. "Every day is a new and interesting development." It is this ability to find opportunity within chaos that has allowed her to use her flourishing business to reach out to the community. Years ago she recognized a need in society for financial advising. Since then, she has extended a helping hand to anybody who needs financial planning advice. At ACH investment, you can find just about anything you need to know about financial and estate planning, investments and retirement planning, employee benefits, and insurance services.

However, Kreielsheimer ensures that people of all walks of life have access to pro bono financial advice, not only by offering public financial seminars hosted by ACH Investment, but also by donating her time and talents to a legion of organizations that provide guidance to many diverse sectors of the community.

When Kreielsheimer began volunteering as a financial counselor with the Women's Center of Wake County eight years ago, she was standing at the brink of her mission to educate the region concerning their financial affairs. In her work at the center, she found there was a special need for women who are newly divorced or widowed to attain assistance in their financial affairs. Many women go from cradle to grave with first their fathers and then their spouses reigning over their finances -- never doing so much as balancing a checkbook. However, when these women are faced with the loss of a partner they are forced to contend with some of the most difficult battles of their lives Ð emotionally and financially Ð at a time when they are most vulnerable. Kreielsheimer is able to assist these women by making their hard times a little easier and less complicated.

Connections Kreielsheimer made at the Women's Center led her to other organizations where she contributes her time and her expertise. She serves as a consultant to Triangle Family Services and is a member of the Financial Counseling Committee. Likewise, her ties to the Women's Center provided an impetus for her involvement in the Directions Meeting, a day long affair that is held every fall at NCSU at which the public is invited to take advantage of financial classes and workshops. Kreielsheimer also teaches classes for the Encore Center for Lifelong Enrichment, sponsored by AARP, in which she aids retirees in budgeting and planning their financial future.

At the forefront of Kreielsheimer's mission is her business -- ACH Investment. "We work with our clients as a team, and try to come up with the best team of professionals to meet their goals and objectives, and that's key. That's sort of a rarity in this industry," says Kreielsheimer.

Kreielsheimer came to North Raleigh from New York in 1987. After experiencing suburban life in Westchester County, just outside the city, and small town life in Kingston, New York, she says that Raleigh is a nice compromise between the two. She is a volunteer for the North Carolina Symphony and is happy to use her time to sell tickets for the symphony and call sponsors. Understandably, it is rare that Kreielsheimer can spend an evening at home with her husband, Gregg, a manager in the network hardware division at IBM, and their 18-year-old cat, Burt. Yet it was in great part encouragement by Gregg and her clients that gave her the boost to start her thriving corporation in October of 1991. Kreielsheimer gushes on about her clients, never missing an opportunity to sing their praise. It is obvious from her dedication that she has paid them back for their support, with a great deal of interest.
